Elena Shalenkova was born in an artistic family in Moscow , Russia. At the age of 4 she was accepted into Moscow Art school for exceptionally gifted children in the department of painting, which she attended for 2 years. In the age of 6  she and her mum relocated to Athens, Greece ,where she grew up and did her schooling. The famous Greek painter Panayiotis Tetsis suggested she should immediately follow the path of a painter after seeing her works. At the age of 17 Elena had already illustrated her first book.

Elena Shalenkova graduated from the Athens School of Fine Art in 2010 with excellence.  She studies paintings under professors Botsoglou, Arvanitis , Charalambous. Aside from fine art, Elena also possesses great musical abilities (being a professional violinist) . She simultaneously studied violin at the Eliniko Odeio Conservatory and graduated with distinction. Elena Shalenkova has performed in professional orchestras such as the Symphonic Orchestra of the Greek Radio and T.V., The State Symphonic orchestra, the National Opera Orchestra, The Orchestra of Colours ,and toured all over Germany with string ensemble ‘’Strings from Heaven’’ with famous rock band ‘’The Scorpions”.

In 2012 Elena completed her MA studies in illustration, at the Camberwell School of Art, University of the Arts, London.

Since 2014 she lives and works in New York,USA.
