Description

The artwork Cape Sounion with Temple of Poseidon was created by Dmitriy Salov after visiting Cape Sounion in 1995. He obviously was impressed by the tragic death of the Ancient Greek King Aegeus who, upon seeing the black sails on the ship of Thyssey, he rushed from a cliff into the Aegean Sea. The Artist depicted a gloomy sky and a stormy sea. Masterly image of foaming ridges add realism to this painting and create an atmosphere of anxiety.  Dmitriy Salov is a well known Ukrainian portraitist and still life, landscape painter . He works in European realist tradition and is master of the treatment of light and shadow in a painting. The painting Cape Sounion with Temple of Poseidon is in very good condition.
