About the artwork

The main ability presented in Caterina Marouda’s work  is that they have an authority of objective and unhindered performance. Being a color expert, as the Venetian artists of renaissance, Caterina Marouda uses it in order to create the third dimension and to enhance the subject with the use of adversative colors. The intense use of colors is balanced accomplishes to address both the human sentiment and reason.

Drought. Saturated colors are emotional, are in fact, emotions expressed in a visual way. The yellow is sun and thirst and desert and drought, while blue is the hope for a cool place, a wavy relief. However, the blue hosts a red heart. This redness in the middle as its aorta suggests that the blue is not a merely cool place, but is itself a pulsing creature that does not mind the drought but is nourished from it. The drought is danger that intimidates whatever is alive and needs fluids, but this blue flower has its source of life inside itself, and this self-reliance and passion that runs through its veins is its inner strength in times of crisis.
