Greek carved wooden chest 19th century
Chest dimensions: 107 x43 x 43 cm
Description: The chests were used as furniture for storing clothes and other valuables. The Post- Byzantine era chests were decorated with carved or painted patterns: figures of people, saints, symbols, geometric elements.
Our chest: The front legs of the chest are in the shape of lion paws. On the front wall of the chest are carved patterns. The central motif of the decoration is the palace, surrounded by two symmetrically arranged tall cypresses. Symmetrically also carved the multi-petal flowers. The geometric pattern frames these images. The chest is in good condition.
