Landscape with River Nile. Dimitrios Litsas (1883-1952), is a Greek artist. He was born in Spetses He studied painting with famous artists as Nikiforos Lytras (1832-1904), Constantine Volanakis(1837-1907) and George Roellos (1867-1928). Litsas graduated from the School of Fine Arts in 1901 and continued his studies at the Drama School (1901-1903). Most of all he painted portraits and landscapes. In 1913 Dimitrios Litsas settled permanently at Alexandria Egypt, where he created the School of Painting. Also he spend two years in Paris,(1930-1932) studying new art movements. Dimitrios Litsas created his own personal style in painting. His artistic heritage includes portraits, landscape, still life and characterised emotional colours and expressive brushwork. In his paintings he liked to depict the Egyptians and local landscapes. He had rarely dated his works and often didn’t even sign them.
