Description
Still Life Fruit Bowl, Melon and Water Melon was painted by Greek artist Doris. His real name was Michail Papageorgiou and he was born in Athens. At first, he worked as a designer and cartoonist in various magazines. In 1916 he left for Paris where he studied painting at various artist’s workshops. In his works of the middle-war period, under the influence of Maurice de Vlaminck and Raul Dufy, Doris presents his personal style that combines expressionistic painting with a decorative aesthetic. Doris’ style is a liquid, to call it that way, drawing, a diffused colour, without outline. Sometimes with its sensitivity this colour moves us and creates a feeling of reverie, it gives a delicate and polite sentiment… The painting Still Life Fruit Bowl, Melon and Water Melon catches our attention with it’s freshness, colour intensity and unique pictorial language. The painting is in good condition. A small area has flaking paint.
